Greenville’s food scene continues to grow and the newest addition is the Competition Dining Series held at Larkin’s Sawmill.
I was able to attend two events this week and want to share the experience with you. The first evening I attended was the competition between Eden Roorda of One Fifty One from Asheville and Edward Wallace from Adventures in Taste in Easley, SC. Six courses were brought out through the evening and we had the opportunity to judge on a number of aspects of the food in a blind taste test using a mobile app built specifically for the competition.
I had the honor of sitting with Jimmy Crippen who put the event together, Mark Pollard – formerly with Charleston Cooks and Chef Steve Musolf from the Lazy Goat/Table 301. It was pretty interesting to hear the things they picked up from tasting the various entries. Eden Roorda won the competition and moves on to the next round. The dinners continue through September 7th if you would like to check one out. I understand some are already sold out.
I was invited back to the Wednesday competition between The Cliffs-Valley vs Passerelle Bistro. This was even bigger and better than Monday! Check out my video below to see how the competition unfolds.
